Make gnocchi from scratch!! Simply add your favourite sauce or try our tomato based one for a simple, delicious meal the whole family will enjoy.

Prep: 60 mins, plus cooling time Cook: 1 min plus sauce

Ingredients

  • 3 large potatoes
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup plain flour, plus about an extra 1/2 cup extra

Directions

  1. Wash potatoes
  2. Bring a pot of water to the boil and boil potatoes until they are soft (around 15 – 20 minutes)
  3. Drain potatoes and leave to cool
  4. Once cool, remove potato skin
  5. Grate potatoes
  6. On a flat surface, place flour in a mound
  7. Make a well in the centre and break in egg and add potatoes
  8. Mix together with your hands
  9. Add more flour as you need, the dough should be soft but not sticky
  10. Divide mixture into thirds and roll each portion into a long rope 2cm thick
  11. Cut rope into 1-2cm pieces
  12. Gently press with a fork
  13. Bring a pot of water to the boil
  14. Drop gnocchi into water and let boil for a minute or so until they rise to the surface
  15. Once risen to the surface remove and add to your favourite sauce

Notes

Cook with our pasta sauce recipe or carbonara sauce to make delicious dinner.

Try with sweet potato or a mix.
